Koin Keadilan buat Prita

Koin Keadilan Prita

Koin Keadilan Prita

The IP telephony market grew 10 percent in the third quarter, thanks to service providers investing in such infrastructure projects as VOIP for businesses, according to a report from Dell’Oro Group. At the same time, the market for high-speed server connectivity also grew in the quarter, due in large part to the blade server market, Dell’Oro said.

The IP telephony space grew almost 10 percent in the third quarter, driven in part by investments service providers have made in their infrastructure, according to market research firm Dell’Oro Group.

The market grew to $782 million in the quarter as the service providers invested in such offerings as VOIP (voice-over IP) for businesses, Dell’Oro said in a report Dec. 8.

“Business VOIP remains a hot area,” Dell’Oro Vice President Greg Collins said in a statement. “Enterprises as well as small and medium [sized] businesses increasingly embrace IP Centrex, unified communications and IP business trunks (or SIP trunks), and investment in equipment to support these services offers service providers attractive near-term returns.”

In particular, Acme Packet and Huawei both benefitted, with each posting double-digit revenue gains.

Dell’Oro’s VOIP report came a day after the research firm said that high-speed server network connectivity also is growing strongly.

In particular, combined 10 Gigabit Ethernet network adapter and LAN-on-motherboard port shipments doubled in the third quarter over the second.

Meanwhile, 8GB Fibre Channel HBA (host bus adapter) port shipments saw a similar increase.

Driving this increase were blade servers, according to Seamus Crehan, a Dell’Oro vice president.

“This class of server, which generally has been growing faster than the overall server market, has seen quicker adoption of high-speed network connectivity,” Crehan said in a statement. “This is, in part, due to 10GB Ethernet and 8GB Fibre Channel having much lower prices for blade servers than for standalone servers.”

The primary beneficiaries of the 10GbE growth were Intel and Broadcom, while Emulex and QLogic benefitted from the 8GB Fibre Channel growth.

Pacnet akan membangun SKKL SO India-Asia

Pacnet has announced plans to construct a $150 million cable system linking India with Asia, with the eventual goal of offering pan-Indian telecom services.

The West Asia Crossing (WAC) cable will connect Chennai, India with Singapore and Malaysia, and should be ready for service by early 2012, Pacnet said.
It will have an initial design capacity of 6-8 Tbps, and be built to accommodate for the option of extending connectivity into Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, or adding more links into India. The WAC will also interconnect with Pacnet’s existing EAC-C2C cable system to India.
Pacnet CEO Bill Barney said the company was planning to construct the WAC based on the approach taken for the Unity cable system, which landed in Japan last month.
Each partner in the Unity venture is able to operate independently, but is still benefiting from economies of scale, Barney said.
“[But] while we are already in talks with potential partners for WAC, we are also considering fully funding the entire project,” he added.
Pacnet is already in talks with subsea cable suppliers, and should award a contract in early 2010.
The company has meanwhile applied to Indian regulators for both NLD and ILD licenses, and has been told their application has been successful. Pacnet has since begun planning for a new PoP in Chennai to serve as an international gateway.
Construction should be complete by Q3 2010, by which time the operator will launch Ethernet international private line, IP VPN and other managed services in India.
